The Global Economy in 2012: Challenges & Prospects |
|
|---|---|
The global economic conditions are going to remain volatile, weak and uncertain in 2012. The demand from the matured economies, is likely to be restrained by continued household deleveraging, ongoing fiscal tightening as well as structural weaknesses in the labour and housing markets. Japan is in recession after being struck by tsunami, the credit rating of the United States has been downgraded from AAA to AA+ and Europe is facing a deepening debt crisis.
The domestic demand from emerging Asia economies continues to be resilient and this can provide some support to global demand. However, this will not fully mitigate the effects of an economic slowdown in the advanced economies. Will India and the developing economies of Southeast Asia be the top performers? How should Singapore small-medium enterprises weather the dark clouds in 2012? How will Singapore perform?
Mr Tay Woon Teck, Director of Stone Forest Corporate Advisory Pte Ltd, is one of the 3 speakers invited by the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry to speak at this seminar. He will speak on "Sustainable Growth Strategies for Small and Medium Enterprises in Today's Climate".
